Shchi is usually considered a true masterpiece of Slavic cuisine, since there are no analogues to this soup.
However, few people know about the variety of varieties.
Our magazine’s expert on culinary issues, chef Yulia Arkhipova, talks about the differences between soups.
What varieties of classic soup are there?
Full shchi
This soup can contain meat broth, potatoes, various types of mushrooms, and semi-finished meat products. As a rule, many products are added to the composition, which will make the shchi tastier and more satisfying.
Sour shchi
If you want to treat yourself to real sour shchi, then you should cook it with sauerkraut. The soup will turn out amazing.
Seedling shchi
Few people have heard of this type of soup. The dish is based on seedlings that were not used for planting.
Lenten cabbage soup
Vegans and vegetarians can safely cook this cabbage soup for themselves, since the soup does not contain any animal products.
Fish
Even this type of soup can be prepared. You can put both good expensive fish and budget canned food in the dish.
