Did you know that the export of santonica wormwood was forbidden in the Soviet Union?.
We tell you why such a ban was introduced in the USSR.
Why was it forbidden to export wormwood from the USSR
As reported by the Zen channel ‘Plants are interesting’, santonica wormwood is endemic.
That is, it grows only in a certain area – in southern Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
Secondly, santonica wormwood is a very valuable medicinal plant.
During the USSR, it was used to produce drugs widely used in veterinary medicine.
Moreover, the USSR produced them for export and was a monopolist in this area. Therefore, a ban was imposed on the export of seeds and heads of santonica wormwood.
