Soviet-style lecho: a recipe that has stood the test of time

You will need:

  • 4 kg tomatoes.
  • 20 bell peppers.
  • carrots 500 gr.
  • onions 500 gr.
  • bay leaves 10 pcs.
  • peppercorns 20 pcs.
  • vegetable oil 100 gr.
  • sugar 1 tbsp.
  • salt 1 tbsp.
  • How to cook

    1. Cut the tomatoes and put them through a meat grinder, cut the pepper lengthwise into slices – you should get 8 pieces. Cut the onion into rings and grate the carrots on a coarse grater.

    2. Bring the tomato puree to a boil, then add the grated carrots and bring to a boil again. Then add the onion, boil and add the pepper.

    3. Bring to a boil again and add the spices on the list and vegetable oil.

    4. Bring the vegetables to a boil and cook for 5-10 minutes, then pour into sterile jars, roll up and when cool, put away for storage. Enjoy your meal!
